MEDIA ADVISORY

Fredericksburg, VA April 20, 2002 -- Ovarian cancer is the 5th leading cause of cancer death in women.  The symptoms of ovarian cancer are vague and nonspecific. By the time the cancer is diagnosed, the tumor has often spread beyond the ovaries.  Because no screening test for ovarian cancer exists, over 50 percent of women with ovarian cancer are diagnosed in the advanced stages of the disease, and do not live past five years.

Every day, great strides are being made in the battle against Ovarian Cancer.  A vaccine and early detection tests are in the developmental stages.  These research projects cost money, and are solely funded by grants and donations.  That's where your help is requested.

93 WFLS and the Riverside Dinner Theater are joining forces to fight Ovarian Cancer. Honorary Chairs Virginia State Delegate Bobby Orrock and WFLS News Reporter Tabitha LaRue, will host the June 14 Riverside production of GUYS AND DOLLS. Tickets are priced at an affordable $50 per person.   Half of the ticket price is tax deductible and will be donated to the Johns Hopkins University's Ovarian Cancer Research Projects.

The night's festivities include a silent auction. At the present time the auction includes items from the Washington Wizards, a fishing charter, season tickets to the Riverside Dinner Theater, massages, and a party with DJ Mike Vincent. More auction items are on the way! Make your reservations now. Gather your family and friends and join the fight against Ovarian Cancer. Call the Riverside Box Office at 540-370-4300.

Make your reservations today by calling the Riverside Dinner Theater, (540) 370-4300.
